Occasionally, NSK conducts seminars to focus in on specific areas of karate. All are welcome at the seminars, which are normally held at the dojo.

In 2008 Nevada Shotokan Karate started a program called “Shodan Challenges”. Shodan Challenges consist of a series of physically and mentally challenging events that all students are welcome to join in on. Challenges include running, biking, kayaking, hiking, etc. The goal is to get students to challenge themselves outside of the dojo to help build their spirit and also to encourage a variety of ways to achieve the high level of physical fitness required of serious karateka.

This simple system of self defense is designed with the goal of enabling escape from an attacker. The target audience for this training is women of all ages: young teens to senior citizens.
